| About
the Artist: Willard
Traub left the teaching of English and social studies
to become a full-time photographer in 1979. He has
had his studio in the Saxonville Studios since 1993.
Traub's photographs have been widely published in
architectural and shelter journals and books including
Architecture, Building Design
& Construction, Contract Design, Home Magazine,
Remodeling magazine and publications of the
Boston Society of Architects.
Scripting the Shoot: Walking
around a building and its site prior to photography
is a first meeting with a new acquaintance. Establishing
a dialogue with the building and its users, looking
at it and walking around it to see the light within
the space and the light falling on it are time well
spent. In this way, aspects of the volume, materials,
colors, textures are revealed. The 'fun' of it all
is then placing that three-dimensional world in the
two-dimensional world of the photograph. The following
three photographs are recent examples of that process.

| The
Final Product: His
photographs of exteriors and interiors of the built
environment are characterized by his perspective as
an artist as well as an architectural documentarian.
Characteristics of his commercial work are his respect
for the client's design and commercial requirements
as well as the vitality brought to the photographs
through the creative use of people and props in the
composition.
