Biography
Rosalie
Ripaldi Shane, managing owner of Saxonville Studios, was born
in Boston and studied art at Brandeis University, Massachusetts
College of Art and the DeCordova Museum School. She is a member
of the Copley Society, the Cambridge Art Association, a Distinguished
Artist Member of the Concord Art Association and vice president
of the Martha's Vineyard Art Association.
Ms. Shane works in water media to create paintings of contemporary
realism, often of subjects from daily life caught in unlikely or
offbeat situations. In her unique style, everyday scenes or objects
take on unique appearances and meanings. Her still lifes capture
the essence of fruits or flowers in poetic rather than exact images.
Her seascapes emphasize an almost naïve focus on sunlight and
water giving them a semi-abstract felt reality rather than a representative
image. Lush colors and intense light permeate all her work.
Rosalie Ripaldi Shane exhibits in the Boston and Metrowest areas
year round and during the summers on the island of Martha's Vineyard.
Look for her show at the Field Gallery, West Tisbury, in July and
the old Sculpin Gallery, Edgartown, in August.
