Artist’s
Biography:
Art is... something made special.
I have been an artist since I was a small child. I went
to a pre-school in Framingham ,MA called Happy Hollow. The
school had a phenomenal arts program; it was my first exposure
to sculpture, painting, drawing, collage and most importantly
the creative process. By the time I was in first grade my
passion for art became apparent to those around me. My parents
created a workspace for me, complete with a desk and a homemade
easel, thanks Dad! My school, McCarthy Elementary, had chosen
one of my pen and ink drawings to be the school Holiday
card that was mass manufactured and sent to all Framingham
Public School staff, administration, and town officials.
My work was continually recognized and displayed in the
lobbies of my schools throughout my elementary, secondary,
and high school years. From 1995 through 1999 I attended
Framingham High School, Framingham, MA. During this time
I had the honor of exhibiting several pieces in the Boston
Scholastic Art Awards (juried), displayed in Boston’s
Transportation Building. I was awarded several Gold Key
and Silver Key awards for works in assorted media including
pencil drawings. In 1997-8, I completed a commission for
a four wall mural for a child’s nursery. In 1999,
my work was featured in a Staples, Inc. promotional calendar.
From
1999-2004, I attended Framingham State College, Framingham,
MA, where I studied Fine Art and Art History. I struggled
with the cognitive part of the creative process during my
college years. There was a constant struggle between the
priorities of life and my passion for art. I worked full
forty hour work weeks and went to school full-time. At Framingham
State College, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity
to experience a variety of art processes, including printmaking,
both woodblock and intaglio methods, oil painting, watercolor,
sculpture, photography, color theory, etc. I also studied
a wide span of art history including, the Baroque, The Northern
Renaissance, Asian Art, Female
Patronage & Women in Art, and Modern Art. This plentiful
mixed bag of knowledge gave me the exposure and confidence
I needed to progress with my own work. In the Spring of
2004, I graduated magna-cum-laude with a Bachelor of Fine
Arts and a waiver of minor in art history. While attending
Framingham State College, I exhibited several works of art
in four juried Student Shows at the Mazmanian Art Gallery,
Framingham, MA. The works ranged from oil on canvas to watercolors
to woodblock prints and aluminum sculpture.
In
2004, I worked out of my home painting small watercolors
and some works in oil. My passion for my work was revitalized
in late 2004 when I made several business endeavors and
life changes. I moved from Framingham, MA to Waltham, MA,
began working with a local band in developing a logo and
marketing materials, received a portrait commission, and
started Greetings by C. Lincoln, Handcrafted Stationery
for All Occasions. Greetings by C. Lincoln has now become
a subsidiary of www.CLinCoLnArT.com, a website that showcases
all of my work including the Greetings stationery, oils
on canvas, and graphic works. Recently I have participated
in several reputable art shows throughout Massachusetts
including Eastworks Studios of Easthampton, Ma, Saxonville
Studios of Framingham, Ma & the Amazing Things Arts
Center, Framingham, Ma.
